Many persons consider physical fitness to mean hours spent at the gym working out. This perception is far from the truth. Physical fitness is a habit everyone can incorporate whether they have the resources to go to the gym or not. It only requires a slight adjustment to one’s daily routine.

Ready to be more fit? Try the following tips

1. Have fun with chores: Listen to songs while doing the dishes or cooking and dance. Sometimes, decide to wash the car by yourself and use the time to groove.

2. Use relaxation time wisely: Incorporate taking walks with friends at least once a week. If you can’t walk, learn how to play a new game and just enjoy the thrill of it.

3. Practise deep breathing: this is the most cost-effective exercise ever. What does it require? Regularly taking deep breaths even for as low as 60 seconds. Benefits? Strengthens the lungs and the heart.

4. Exercise while at work: take the stairs instead of the lift. Instead of calling your colleague on phone to pass on information, choose to walk over instead. Stretch at your desk from time to time. Don’t sit all day.

5. Volunteer: Once in a while, take a break from work and participate in a volunteer activity. You would not only enjoy the bliss and serenity that comes with helping someone but you would also have strengthened your muscles and heart.
