EAT THESE FRUITS DURING A FAST
Fasting is an exercise people embark on for various reasons. Some fast as a religious exercise; some others fast to lose weight. Whatever the motive is for fasting, medical personnel advise that certain precautions be taken when breaking a fast so as not to hurt one’s gastrointestinal organs. Depending on the length of the fast, it’s been advised that water should be taken first to soothe the GIT(Gastrointestinal tract). And then fruits after. Fruits that are acidic like oranges and lemon should be avoided when breaking a fast as they can hurt the GIT more.
However, fruits that are hydrating in nature like watermelon, and grape berries are highly recommended. Nuts like dates, walnuts, cashew nuts are also favored for the energy they provide. Banana, cherries, and avocado are also healthy fruits to eat while fasting. They help replenish the body with strength and shine. In addition to the above, a healthy dose of veggie is also good for the health. Fruit salad, vegetable salad, and coleslaw are healthy mixes that can be taken as appetizers or as an additive to the main diet. Whatever your choice, remember to go slow and tender as you break your fast. Don’t be in a hurry to wolf down all the meals you have missed. And your GIT(Gastrointestinal tract) would thank you for it.
