WHAT IS A VACCINE(ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VACCINES)

There are times in our lives that certain diseases attack us. These diseases are often deadly and without a cure. They reduce the quality of lives of the persons affected that is if they ever survive them. Some right-thinking scientists while trying to curb this menace, over the years, do come together to proffer solutions to this problem and come up with a treatment plan that prevents people from contracting this disease. For them, prevention is better than cure. They test this treatment on a selected few to be sure it has the desired effect on the patients and has little to no harmful side effects before offering the service to the entire populace. This preventive treatment plan is what is known as a vaccine.

Medical science laboratory. Concept of virus research

When polio started attacking the limbs of young children, making them crippled or giving them distorted shapes, the polio vaccine was created. Today, we have many children growing up healthy and who are physically fit to stand on their feet in today’s competitive society. And now, that the Covid 19 virus is fighting everywhere, medical personnel have risen to the challenge. A vaccine has been created and tested and in some countries have been given to their citizens to boost their immunity and prevent them from contracting the disease.

Do vaccines have side effects? Yes. But often not as severe as what would happen if none was given. Are they safe? Yes, but this depends on the company distributing the vaccine. If given by a reputable company, then it is safe. So, what are the things to watch out for before accepting a vaccine? The credibility of the company giving the vaccine and the reports of those who have received the vaccine. You know the saying, “experience is the best teacher.” But in all, the gold standard in health promotion is that prevention is better than cure.
